Kolkata... The land of mystifying flavors

The odds are never even... The 3Xs are half the time even...... N ofc the evens are always even...... On that note, what would Kolkata be??? Would it be a city locked up in traditions?? Would it be a city that has still not waken up to the 21st century??? Yep, it can be, they have still got trams running here.... Not that I see many people using it for logistics, so am guessing its more there as a tradition, as a symbol of its deep routed British history.... The old city still looks like it desperately wants to cling on to the past and not let go of its traditions.... Be it the Old Howrah Bridge, The Writers Building, Victoria Memorial, The Eden Gardens, Esplanade New Market or even The Howrah Railway Station.... I am probably made to think that its as British as it gets..... I don't think any other place in India comes even close enough to being so reminiscent of the British colonial past as Kolkata.... Does this mean that Kolkata in trying so hard to preserve its regal past, has opted out of the race to modernization... globalization.... ??? The answer is Nope, that can't be it...... At-least not after seeing the new city dotted with towering tech buildings and not after seeing the extremely live-able n posh Salt Lake neighborhood... Mystifying... Indeed... When you know you cannot classify a city under one category, it could only mean one thing... That being, the city has got something for everybody..... It is as much unique and individualistic to make sure that those original vibrant flavors that originally defined and shaped the city are very much retained and it is also as much flexible and adaptive to make sure that new age modernism could snake in smoothly.... The people of Kolkata have done well in making sure that their city portrays one such image....
